Trend To Watch

Sure, almost all of us have a pair of skinny jeans somewhere in our closet. But with the new year approaching, it's time to upgrade your jeans. The trend to watch in the near future is colored skinny jeans. And we're not talking black or white or gray. With the cold, dreary, winter months ahead of us, opt for fun and bright colors like green, orange, even pink. Since the jeans are going to be the focal point of the outfit, make sure you tone down the rest of your wardrobe. A simple, solid color t-shirt with a scarf should work just fine :)

No Need To Be Chilly :)

As I was walking around my campus today, I realized how cold it was (about 10 degrees Fahrenheit!) and realized how many cute (and not so cute) coats there are in the world. So here are my top picks for how to stay warm, but to also look pretty dang stylish :)

The Ma Cherie Burnt Orange coat with a fur collar will definitely keep you warm. The fur adds a bit of Old Hollywood glam to the simple and classic design of this peacoat. Try pairing it with a cloche hat for an ultra retro-glam look!

Burberry adds a modern twist to the classic trenchcoat design. The dark leather piping with the neutral coat color adds a little extra 'pop'. While the trench may not really protect you from the harsh snow, it's perfect for a cloudy/windy day when paired with a pair of dark skinny jeans!

The cape design is probably the most fashion-forward coat style this season. This one from Mackage Thea is not only affordable, but also fashionable with the belted waist and the fold over collar. Try wearing it with a pair of leapord print gloves for an urban chic vibe.

My Week With Marilyn

Anyone who knows me know that I have a strong love for Marilyn Monroe. So, it only makes sense that I am STOKED about the new movie "My Week With Marilyn". Although the movie focuses more on her as a person, I can't help but be awestruck by some of the clothes she (Michelle Williams) wears in the movie. Soooo for your enjoyment, here is the official trailer of "My Week With Marilyn". Enjoy! :)

Best Dressed- British Fashion Awards 2011

Each year the British Fashion Awards brings out some of the most fashionable and creative celebrities and designers the fashion world has to offer. Here are my picks for the best dressed at the awards show!

Kate Hudson
Photo: Rob Harper
Kate Hudson looked stunning in Stella McCartney. The mesh side panel adds an unexpected twist to the "Little Black Dress". Had she worn any jewlery or had her hair down, she would've taken away from the gown. Smart move, Kate, smart move.

Abbey Clancy.

Model Abbey Clancy wore this elegant suede creation by Giles. While some people would argue that the dress is the same color as her skin/hair, I personally think she pulled the look off fabulously.

Kelly Brooke.

Kelly Brooke stunned in this elegant one shoulder gown. She added sex-appeal by having a mid-thigh slit, while the leapord print heels added playfulness and youth. She accentuated her figure by adding a gold belt.

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham took home her first award for Designer Brand of the Year Award at the British Fashion Awards this year. She was gorgeous in one of her own creations. The pleats, drop-waist and high cowl neck halter added a fashionable twist to this otherwise classic gown.

Designer of the Day- Carolina Herrera

Born in 1939 in Venezuela, Carolina Herrera has become a household fashion name not only in America, but around the world as well. She began her first line in New York City during 1980 simply called "Carolina Herrera New York". Since then she has not only helped the rich and famous look glamourous, she has also been involved in many charities. One of her most recent and famous designs is Bella Swan's wedding dress in the hit movie Twilight Breaking Dawn: Part 1.

Gifts That Give Back

With the holiday season in full swing, you may be wondering what to get everyone on your list. Well, to help you out I've found a few ideas that are not only fashionable, but that also give back to the community!

For your mom-
Give her a handmade necklace from 31 Bits! These jewlery pieces are made by woman in Uganda and the proceeds from the purchase go directly back to the women to help offer them financial stability, health opportunities and vocational training.

For your dad-
Consider getting him anything from The Livestrong Store. Proceeds go directly to support cancer patients around the globe.
For your sister-
If your sister has 'Bieber Fever' be sure to get her The Bieb's new Christmas album "Under The Mistletoe". Bieber has decided to donate a portion of his sales to various charities including the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

For your brother-
Sure, you've heard of TOMS Shoes, well TOMS has just started a sunglass line that has the same principal as the shoe line does. Whenever you purchase a pair of sunglasses from TOMS Eyewear you will be helping a person around the globe recieve medical treatment, prescription glasses or incredible sight-giving surgery.

For your boyfriend-
Give him something practical! Like this hat from Krochet Kids. Every purchase will go back to the Ugandan woman who helped knit the hat.

For your girlfriend-
Jewlery is always a good option! Go to Same Sky! The bracelets are made by HIV-positive women in Rwanda and provides them with a steady income.
